We are currently working on phase one of the Letters and Sounds programme. During this phase we focus on developing our speaking, listening and concentration skills, as well on tuning into, and discriminating between, the different sounds in our environment. As we progress in phase one we will start to focus on the sounds we hear in the words we use, which will develop our awareness of rhyme and initial sounds.
We regularly use Phonics Play, which offers a wide range of interactive games and resources that support our learning in phonics. Click here to access the site and see for yourselves.
In class we recently enjoyed using the Sound Starter game to listen to and talk about different sounds. The children joined in very well and contributed with some fascinating descriptions of the sounds they could hear.
The school has a full subscription to Phonics Play - please speak to a member of the team if you would like log-in details.
