Personal, Social, and Health Education and Citizenship Education (PSHE&C) enables pupils to develop the knowledge and understanding, skills, attitudes and values which are necessary for them to make sense of the responsibilities, opportunities and experiences which are part of their lives, both now & in the future.(Taken from our school Policy July 2014)

At Dinnington Community Primary School we encourage our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to the life of the school and the wider community. We teach them how society is organised and goverened and we ensure that they experience the democracy in school through the school council. We teach them about their rights and responsibilities and help them to appreciate what it is to be a positive member of a diverse multicultural society.
The aims of personal, social and health education and citizenship are to enable the children to:
  • Stay as healthy as possible;
  • learn to keep themselves and others safe;
  • develop effective & satisfying relationships ;
  • learn to respect the differences between people;
  • be independent and responsible members of the school community;
  • be positive and active members of a democratic society;
  • develop self-confidence and self-esteem, and make informed choices regarding personal and social issues;
  • develop good relationships with other members of the school and the wider community
