Careers Week 2015

Careers Week 2015

Week commencing 2nd November 2015 saw the launch of our annul careers week. We started the week with an assembly on different types of careers and respecting new people and the skills that they bring with them. We had a dress up day where we all dressed up as .....'what I want to be when I grow up

Our apprentice's

The apprentices then went to the career that they had chosen for the week: health and well-being, movies and media, hair and beauty, vets, theatrical design, beauticians, animal rescue, digital media, teaching and catering.

Throughout the week, the apprentices learnt more about their career. The animal rescue apprentices raised lots of money for their chosen charities; the teachers went and taught lessons in year 1 and year 2, the caterers providing a scrumptious 3 course silver service meal for 4 members of the team, the beauticians opened up their salon as well as a mobile beautician to offer their services to all.

On Tuesday, the Year 5 and 6 classes visited Sheffield Hallam University (look at their class pages for more).

On the Friday, we held Dinnington's Got Talent where we were entertained by hosts, Nicole and Aimee and with our amazing contestants who performed in front of the judges and the whole school plus their parents. We were also joined by some amazing singers from the Dinnington High School who opened up the afternoon as well as singing during the judge’s deliberation. Our finalists were on top form and we heard and watched 10 amazing, talented acts perform. Our winners were Cameron Linekar, singing Budapest and Isabelle Walsh, singing Let's Get it on. After the performances, we ended the afternoon with a graduation ceremony for our apprentices. One apprentice from each career graduation with Honours, wearing a graduation gown and receive their graduation certificate from Mrs Vaughan.

What an amazing week. So proud of all our apprentices.

Monday also the first part of our auditions for Dinnington's Got Talent. We had many children audition and spent the whole day watching and deliberating over which acts would go through to the live final on the Friday. Our team of judges, Summer, Shelby, Amy and Erin had a difficult job, but handled it like true professionals.
