Poem of the Day

Good morning! Today's poem is an extract from The Paint Box by Jean Kenward.

  • Which one of these would be your favourite colour? Why?
  • Can you learn the poem off by heart?
  • Do any of the words rhyme in this poem?
  • Can you write your own poem about colours?

The Paint Box

Peacock, peony, violet, jade –

These are colours I like made.

Sunflower yellow, deep sea blue,

Green, like an wheatfield pushing through.

Orange, crimson, amber, jet,

And the four I won’t forget -

Peacock, peony, violet, jade –

Nobody knows how magic’s made!.
