Epic Reading

We have set some different books for you on epic books.

 

Have a read of one today.

  • Write down or tell someone in your family:
  • Did you like it?
  • Who was the main character?
  • Was it fiction (story book) or non fiction (information book)?
  • What happened?
  • Can you suggest it to a friend?
  • What was your favourite part?

04.06.20 - Prediction

 

Re-read the text and pick your favourite description of a Roald Dahl. Now have a go at predicting the story for that book using the information to help you.

 

Who do you think the main characters are?

What do you think will happen to them?

Will it have a happy ending?

 

Write your ideas in your yellow book. As a challenge you could find and read the book you picked and compare your prediction to what happens in the book. Were you right?

Another important skill is understanding the words you read, so that the text you are reading makes sense. Today we are going to focus on this using the text we were reading yesterday.

When we are reading we have to use different skills to get all the information from the text. Each day we will look at the different skills we use when reading to improve our understanding of different texts. 

Today we are looking at retrieval skills that means we will be taking information from the text, a skill I know we are already really good at.
