Writing a letter

Can you write a letter to your future-self?

A year from now, what would you like to remember about your lock down experience?

Think about:

  • What have you done that you have enjoyed?
  • How has your life been different during lock down?
  • Who have you missed seeing?
  • What changes have you made to your lifestyle?
  • What have you found the hardest?
  • What’s the first thing you plan to do post- lock down?
  • What lessons have you learnt during lock down?

You could even make a prediction as to what you think life will be like a year from now.

Step 1

Mind map your ideas and then think about how you're going to structure your letter in order to make it cohesive.

Step 2

Have a look at these WAGOLL letters.

What features can you spot?

Step 3

Write your letter.

Try to include as many of these grammatical features as possible (the links will provide you with more information about each feature and some examples of how to use them):

Step 4

Proofread your letter.

Check your spellings and punctuation.

Can you up-level any of the adjectives you’ve used?

If you have repeated any adjectives, could you use a synonym for the word?

Is your letter cohesive?

Step 5

Put your letter in a safe place ready for you to open in a year’s time.
